About the Hangar 201 project

The Hangar 201 project started as a dream of visionary Tim Adamson.

As a young businessman and pilot Tim traveled around his native Georgia and the southeast by air and road calling on corporate flight departments and FBO's with his ground support equipment (GSE) company. GSE is all the gear needed to take care of aircraft on the ground, such as tow tractors, fuel trucks, power units, and air freight equipment. Tim eventually grew that business into the largest used GSE company in the east and second largest in the US; likely the second largest in the world. Although the GSE business had been wildly successful in the 90's Tim's heart was no longer in GSE.

He held the largest GSE auction since Eastern Airlines in 1991.

Using the proceeds to form a helicopter sales and refurbishment business in the hangar behind his house. It was the aviation equivalent of starting a business in your garage. Within a year it had outgrown that hangar and they moved to a nearby county airport into a much larger hangar.

From there he diversified into construction, building demolition and specialized transportation. Through one of these specialized transportation trips to the Victoria BC area he discovered Hangar 201 at Paine field in Everett WA.

It was the hangar he always wanted but was not in a position to acquire. Hangar 201 was the first hangar built on Paine field in 1940.

It was the classic 1930s mostly pane glass outside with high ceilings and plenty of view office and shop space. The only problem was it had not been used as a hangar in years and was in sad shape. The plumbing didn't work and it had been vandalized, the hangar doors had not been opened in years. There was plenty more that needed attention. After some soul searching Tim moved his entire business from Georgia to Paine field and started to work. It took about a year and a half and untold thousands of dollars to turn it into a successful community hangar/office/shop/ warehouse.

We are a work in progress and a little rough around the edges but we speak aviation here.

Come share the dream and enjoy our hangar from the golden age of aviation.
